The PlastrolTech Salesguy Simulator

Just a quick update to let you know that we're working on a new video! Additionally you can look forward to a fun little tool we like to call the 'Plastroltech SalesGuy Simulator'. Lots of easter eggs and goodies will be coming your way soon! If you haven't already had a chance, click on the 'Unix' icon on the right side of our homepage and play with the Unix simulator. Yes you can reboot the server :)

So the video has passed the million viewer mark! Actually I know it's less than that because our stats only show how many unique requests for the video we've had but don't show if the whole video has been watched. But it's still getting up there! Thanks to everyone who has watched it and passed it on! We are going to make more, don't worry. But we need a little time for this one to calm down. Thanks for all the suggestions and offers to help. And the 'Can't arrange by Penis' desktops are hilarious. Keep it up.

I've seen some places where our video has been reposted or embedded on various websites. This is fine with us as long as it is posted in it's entirety and with the credits. Unfortunately someone has posted a version on break.com where the credits have been removed and it is named "IT Guy Deals With Dumb Employees". While we love the fact that it's so popular, please don't edit our video. We worked hard on it and we'd at least like credit for what we made. If you see it posted without credits or with misleading credits or description, please notify the site admins.

Thanks!

Well I was finally forced to point the video on the front page to the copy on youtube. I didn't really want to do that because the quality isn't as good but you can't beat their bandwidth. Blip.tv seems like an excellent provider and they don't brand the video like youtube does (which is really nice) but the videos just weren't loading and I think a lot of people probably got bored and left before it came up. So... on to youtube. Hopefully tomorrow I will be on to a CDN... stay tuned. And thanks for the comments!

We've had a lot of people posting the video on their blog and reviewing it. Here are some places it showed up:

The Wall Street Journal Buzzblog
Comedy Central
Der Spiegel
Fark
YouTube
StumbleUpon
Digg
Twitter
AppleGeeks
bungie.org
Reddit
Tech Crunch
Polish tech site: Topasz Topa
Greek(?) tech site
Israeli tech site
Blog by a Microsoft Product Manager
German Tech Site
Russian Translated Version on rutube.

If you find it somewhere interesting let me know and I'll add it to the list!

Unfortunately the original user interface was using too much bandwidth so now we have the 'austere' version 2.0. If you'd still like to play with the UNIX command line we've hidden it here. Have fun.

UPDATE - The old interface is back up on the main page. Use the 'desktop' link in the upper right corner (seems to be broken on Firefox though... wtf... I need tech support).

UPDATE - The firefox problem with the UNIX simulator is fixed.

BPS WTF (mpbs/time)

Well... we don't really know what to say except thanks everyone for the awesome comments and feedback! Woohoo!!!! While I doubt we can beat this one we are going to make some more videos and we'll post them here. Get on the RSS feed to be notified when something is up. Thanks for all the attention and links from the blogs and forums and twitter. Totally awesome.

On the downside the number of hits we got destroyed my server. So yea, as some of you noticed, The Website Is Down really was down.
